Definition of epinephrine :
A hormone secreted by the adrenal medulla section of the adrenal gland and released primarily in response to hypoglycemia; it is also produced as a synthetic drug. It is synthesized during times of stress and produces various effects that include increased heart rate, sweating, and increased metabolism. As a drug it is used as a powerful vasopressor substance, and acts to increase blood pressure and stimulate the heart muscle, accelerating the heart rate and increasing cardiac output.
